Choosing a Size
Looking Over the Windshield
The ideal height is where the top edge of the windshield is level with the tip of your nose. This gives you about 2” to see over the top of the windshield when you are looking straight ahead. With this height, the wind will clear the top of your head for a comfortable and quiet ride. The taller you go the better it feels, especially for the passenger, as long as the top edge doesn’t creep up into your line of sight.
Looking Through the Windshield
The ideal height is where the top edge of the windshield is about 2″ above your line of sight. This gives the most comfort and protection for both the rider and the passenger, but when it rains and the windshield gets wet and dirty it gets harder to see through the windshield.
Measuring Tips
– If you have a tall windshield on your bike, you can place a piece of Blue Painters Masking Tape on your windshield with the top edge of the tape at different heights and take a short ride to get settled into your normal riding position.
– If you have a short windshield on your bike, you can tape different size pieces of cardboard on your windshield with Blue Painters Masking Tape and take a slow ride to get settled into your normal riding position.
Test Ride our Windshield
Your windshield will come with a protective plastic film applied to both sides of the windshield. Make sure to leave the plastic on the windshield, mount the windshield and take a short test ride, as long as you have good visibility.
If you are not completely satisfied with the height or performance of the windshield, you may return the windshield for a different size or for full credit (less any shipping charges) as long as the windshield is like new and the protective plastic film has not been removed.
Take your time . . . make sure it is right. No worries if you order in the winter months and it takes until Spring to try it out.

The Freedom shield should have been my first purchase
The Freedom Windshield arrived today. I had previously bought the 22 inch RK windshield which I thought was good enough until I test road the Freedom shield today. I am amazed at how much better the Freedom shield is. It absolutely controlled the turbulent wind and loud noise I experienced. I’ve spent a lot of money trying to get this figured out, but the Freedom shield should have been my first purchase. Thx again for your help.

Blew the wind and bugs up, over and around me
I got your windshield when I was it the In-laws in Montana and rode back to Edmonton and have got about 1500km on it. It’s amazing…. I went from the OEM 19” and when I installed your 18” windshield I thought Uh Oh…. It was quite low, and I was worried instantly that I made a mistake…. But no way man. I rode 10 hrs the first day with it and zero regrets. Blew the wind and bugs up, over and around me. Now instead of me looking about 1/2 to 1” above the OEM I’m a good 2” above the FS and the lip throws the air right over me. I’m very satisfied and will definitely be passing a good word for you guys.

I highly recommend Freedom Shields
Getting a shield that wouldn’t have buffeting issues for my 2022 Harley Road King Special was a huge challenge. But let me cut to the chase, the Freedom Shield’s 22” flared shield works perfectly for me and my wife as passenger. I’d tried several brands and heights to my endless frustration, and then I found Freedom Shields. John was awesome as he helped by custom cutting the vent holes, and when I also installed the fork leg air deflectors – see the pic – all the buffeting and lower wind stopped completely for me and my wife. While I’m only 5 foot 8, and I’m looking through the windshield, the comfort of no wind noise, no buffeting, no bugs, and a clear shield, works flawlessly. I highly recommend Freedom Shields and their customer service and patience with me was refreshing. 5 Stars!

Couldn’t be happier, what a beautiful addition

I’m very satisfied about the way this product performs. I have the 18” dark tint with flare on my 2005 Harley Davidson Road King. I’ve been on long trips, out of state, many different types of weather. Let me tell you, I love the way this windshield cuts through wind and rain, even on stormy days. It’s way better than not having one at all. If I’m putting miles on my bike, you better believe I’m riding with my windshield on. If it’s dark and I’m local I take it off because I can barely see through dark tint in extremely dark conditions. I wish I could have gone a size down and maybe went with the clear or light smoke so that I can see over or through the windshield. I would recommend you follow the measurements they give you on the site to get the fit and visibility you’re trying to meet. I just want to say thanks John for answering any questions I’ve had about this product in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to upgrade their ride.

I’m not wore out and fatigued at the end of a long day.
I wish I’d known about aftermarket windshields sooner! I’ve had my 20” Freedom Shield for about a year now and I am so happy with it! I was riding with wind slap around my head for years, not knowing it could be remedied. I am much more comfortable now, especially on long rides. I’m not wore out and fatigued at the end of a long day. A Freedom Shield, paired with fork wind deflectors, will take almost all the buffeting of your head and torso. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing!
Hi John, I just had to write. I wear prescription progressive glasses, usually I have to wear goggles over them or a shield on my helmet to keep my eyes from watering and drying out and my glasses from shaking. Also, my ears would whistle after a long ride. Today I road 100 miles for the first time in a long time with just my glasses, no goggles or helmet shield, in total comfort and no ear whistling! My wife and I are amazed at the difference it made
I put on my 22″ Medium Tint Windshield on my 2015 Road King. My original was a factory 22″ clear. My wife and I are amazed at the difference it made; we now just get a nice steady breeze without any buffeting at all. I think if I was to do one thing different, I may have gone with the light tint. I do look through the windshield with my height and setup and it is a little dark at night, but we don’t do much driving at night anyway. I can sit up and look over it too if I need to. Overall, we are very pleased with it.
